Some UK homeopaths adopted virtual practice via Skype, Zoom and other platforms years ago and have clients from all over the world. Other homeopaths have only recently started embracing this technology to connect with patients.
While many other complementary therapists can’t offer treatments, you will be able to find a homeopath who can help you. Practitioners say that seeing their patients ‘remotely’ need not feel ‘remote’.
What about the equipment – will I be able to connect to my homeopath?
Homeopaths experienced at long-distance or virtual consultations report excellent results: “You just need to make sure your technology is well set up, so you and the client can see and hear each other properly”, says one internationally renowned practitioner. “It’s just as good as being in the same room”, asserts a West Country homeopath and early adopter of video consultations. She insists that there is no need for expensive kit. All that is required is a laptop, tablet, or even a basic camera phone, to enable the patient to connect with the practitioner, as long as there’s reasonably stable Wi-Fi.
Will my homeopath be able to help me in the same way?
‘The atmosphere in the room’ is an aspect that is often mentioned as missing from virtual consultations. “It’s just not really possible to have proper eye contact”, is a common comment. But patients and practitioners seem to adapt to this quite quickly. Most say that the online environment becomes second nature after a while: “I am confident that I can help my patients just as well online as in person – it just means a little more ingenuity. Adapting to current needs – it’s what a homeopath does, isn’t it?”
Staying local? Roaming far?
Online consultation means your homeopath could be anywhere and yet be right there in the room with you. So how do you choose your online homeopath? Looking at the profiles of homeopaths in your local area is a great starting point. Distance may be no object for online treatment, but a local homeopath may be able to help you with getting hold of the homeopathic medicine more quickly, and they may have all sorts of local knowledge that could help support your health, from wholefood stores to yoga studios. And of course, many of us hope that the return to real life consultations is not too far away.
